Does anyone know how this is applied, I was told to super glue it?
Also, will it work on 2008 smarts?

Its tempting to add all sorts of stuff to our smarties but I like the minimalist look. on the other hand it would keep the glass from smudging on closing... Damm it now I want one.. THANKS!

They should come with a sticky pad/strip to fix it to the glass, I know the UK sourced ones we sell do!

Is there a link to WellSmart USA LLC?

At the moment we are still working on the US online store, the UK one is http://shop.wellsmart.co.uk

I ordered from the UK site and the parts did not make it in perfect condition, small orders are too difficult to package for the many hands that it goes through to get to a US address. I want to place more orders, but I will wait until the US site gets running.

I ordered one but have not recieved it yet. So, I hope they work on an '08. You might try rearview mirror glue.

There are other hatch handles. One by smartbillet (www.billetandacrylic.com) which is chrome and one by Breathless (www.BreathlessPerformance.com). All seem to be attached with the same kind of glue that is used on windshield mounted rearview mirrors. Good luck and happy trails.

Hi TC,

Just for reassurance and to let you know, we (www.smartmadness.com) too carry the Breathless Performance rear hatch handle. The handle is actually applied with the same type of glue that is used to attach rear view mirrors to glass. So for that reassurance, (at least for me as I'm always tilting my mirror), it's going to be quite sturdy. The glue actually comes with the handle so when it arrives at your door, you're ready to go.

Good luck and I hope you have it by now so that your fingers smudges are no longer a concern :)

Just realized that we've made the mistake of not putting the proper key words in our search engine (we will fix that) it may take a bit of digging if anyone is looking for this part, so here's the url.

It looks like just another thing to catch dirt or have to clean around. Is the back window that hard to open ? Dosn't it pop away from the gasket when you hit the button so it's not that hard to get your finger under it ? Why would anyone want this in the way ?

Hiya Not so smart,

We actually asked the same questions when it came to the back window (we have a cabrio) because we never have to pop ours open.. but talking to the community it's actually a popular topic. It appears that window when popped, does so just enough to where you have to pry your fingers into the seam to get it open. Then after it's open the only way to close or open that window is to actually touch the glass then unfortunately finger smudges are left behind. Most vehicles that have a back window that can be opened have some type of a handle, but the smart... mmm, not so much. It's an inexpensive solution for an easy fix :)

No, the problem I have is the fingerprints when closing the back window.

Now, that I just got laid off, I should have some time to add a handle which I bought at Lowes. We'll see how it goes...
