Permalink Reply by Charles Bentham on April 9, 2012 at 12:45am I really appreciate the information on octane ratings.
Thank you canuck451
I just got 52.4 MPG on my 451 passion coupe with 93 octane gas.
Why do they market the car so badly ?

Permalink Reply by Charles Bentham on May 16, 2012 at 3:04pm No, I live in the Finger Lakes area in central N.Y. There are large rolling hills around here. Maybe there are more down hill trips on that fill up ? At Sunoco stations - they have 87, 89, 91, & 93 octane so, lately I've been using 91 octane. So, I'll wait to see the results. We just got a new Subaru Forester & I bet we don't put many miles on it till November when I put Smarty up for the winter (this is 4 wheel country)
I was averaging 49 or 50 mpg & while in Buffalo, N.Y. for a new key the sales girl told me that an older couple who live 40 miles southeast of Buffalo claim they get 52 mpg also. But the hills driving habits & ethanol can hurt mileage. We should be eating corn rather than having it reduce our mpg.

Permalink Reply by Ron Valkenburg on August 10, 2012 at 10:29pm I have only filled up with 93 octane in both my 2009 and now in my 2012 Passion. My 2009 had 62,000 at trade-in in less than 2 years (1 year 10 months) and my 2012 is 4 months old and I just hit 10,000 so I do alot of driving, more than most smart owners. My average MPG right now is 43-44 and I travel 130 miles a day, mostly highway and doing 70-80 mph.
