I use a spray wax that goes on clear and doesn't have to be rubbed off after drying. It can be waxed like any other car since all the panels are coated with a clear enamel like other painted cars. I like to cover mine at night only because it keeps the car clean longer.
I started using ICE products made by Turttle wax. they are clear, do not turn white. the synthetic wax makes the black bib, rear, door handles, and mirror housings totaly black. it also does not leave any oily residues or streaks on the black tridion.
One of the guys at the dealer said run them through the car wash that is what they do... but I think I'll stick to hand washing - Simple Green Car Wash, .Seventh Generation Free & Clear for the windows and Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer Wipes. Has anyone used Scotch Guard on their interior??
tried ICE turtle wax polish. i loved how easy it is to apply. will see how long it lasts.

as an aside, i realized the smart car is basically impervious to hail! insurance co should give us a discount!
i wash my car, but i live next to a major tollway. so the dust raised by traffic and the morning dew makes my smart look like crap a day or two later. (i have a black on black smart) maybe i could start an online charity to get a garage for my smart!

between that and the sesame seeds from burger king in the seems of the seats... just can't win!
very good question!! mines is the hyper gloss white, im scared to put anything other than soapy water on it in case it melts lol. Yes, I know I sound silly lol
We used to detail expensive cars (Lamborghini, Testarossa, etc) and still know many that do. In our business we use one wax and one wax only, and that's Zaino. When you go to the major car shows (like the Paris car show or the one in Geneva or the North American International Auto Show) this is the wax that they all use. The Corvette below is using it, but the picture does not do it justice.

I use to ride expensive motorcycles that essentailly have the same material construction. There are two spray products that are awesome.

Pro Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish It can be used on your car, truck, motorcycle, you name it! It is the “ultimate detailer in a can.” It can be used on all surfaces; painted, unpainted, glass, or plastic

Silkolene Pro-Prep This stuff actually repels dirt and leaves a silky finish.
I think I'll use Zaino on my smart. I've contacted the company to ask about which products to use on my smart since I have NEVER done anything like this to a car before. Currently I have ICE by Turtlewax on it and it looks great but I live in Texas, drive everyday, park outside (mostly) and I wanna keep it lookin' good. Here's a pic of my ICED smart.
I use Autoglym Super resin polish which is a very high quality resin polish ideal for both plastic and steel panels.

It is very easy to apply and gives a beautifull deep shine especially on Black bodywork.

I use nothing but SmartWax / Chemical Guys products inside and out on my smart.

Same here SmartWax all day.
