We picked up ours in June and have 6,600 miles on it. Added windo tinting, a scan gauge and the breathless exhaust; love the extra kick, though a little loud. Hope to put some sound baffling in the engine compartment. Very few problems; it runs great and gets around 40 mpg. The scan gauge really keeps your attention on how you're driving. Hope you get yours soon.
Just got my ride. Will be going to Denver and back. I will report back but up on the mountain smart run well. Dig the car where ever I go. Everyone waves. Will have to see how snow dose the car.
7600 miles on my 451 since March 2008 and the only "glitch" was an airbag warning light that was fixed by the dealer the very next day
I have just changed the front wheels for the same as fitted to the rear so the can now has 175/55's all round. Total cost for wheels and tyres was £370 and worth every penny
I did 720 km in my 5 day old pulse turbo yesterday and found the stability and handling on our convoluted bush highways quite good. The pulse comes with 175/55 front and 195/50 rear. Any reason why you didn't go the pulse route and put your 175/55 rear onto the front and then buy 195/50 for the rear? (My guess is alloy wheel pattern availability.)
Here downunder, 175/55 tyres are very scarce. 195/50 are relatively common.
smart now has just over 1500 km on it in 5 days. ScanGauge is beginning to show 5.6 lhk and the refill at the pump is dropping from over 7 lhk to around 5.9. Govt rated fuel consumption is 4.9 lhk. In US units, that means the car began at around 33 mpg, it is rated at 48 mpg, and I am now starting to see around 40 mpg as the engine loosens up. (And perhaps as the engine tunes itself on a Shell VPower diet.) The full auto shift seems to be changing it's shift points a bit higher and smoother... don't know if that is real, or imagined! In Auto 1 it seems to rocket to 5,000 rpm or more before shifting and at that speed it doesn't nose dive so much. When new it was shifting at around 3,500. That may have been stale fuel or a very smart ECU learning how to run. At highway cruising, manual and auto shifts up and down from 3 to 5 are very smooth.
No problems at all with electronics, tranny or engine. Door lock squeaks and groans were cured with a "dry" bicycle chain lube ("White Lightning").
Paul, did they tell you what the "glitch" for the airbag warning light was? How did they fixed it? My car is only 2,800 Km. since September 2008, and yesterday the airbag warning light lit and stays that way. I'm taking my car in on Monday to have it check, but would want to know the solution before hand.
My car was delivered Sept. 17, 2008. It's a Passion Turbo Coupe. Today it has around 2,800 Km. I usually drive 1,000 Km. a month, divided on my two cars. I've been using the smart most of the time, and had some extraordinary trips (800 Km.) around the country. So far I love it. Driven in the city most of the time. Mileage is somewhat low, but I have the AC most of the time, do a lot of very short trips (1-3 Km.), and live in a city 2,000 m. above sea level, with a few hills within the area. I'm getting around 335 Km. per 27 l. (7.9 l./100 Km.) of premium gas, which over here is the only one available, with 92 octanes. So I guess it's not that bad, compared to the 18.5 l./100 Km. I get out of my MB.
