K & N air filter arrived and fitted also changed oil for Castrol SLX 0-30.
I must say that it seems to have liberated the engine and there is
a quicker response to the accelerator pedal, but then again that could
just be me wishful thinking. Still get more of a buzz out of the M3....
Could also be that i have just completed 3000 km's.

You can also get a cold air intake which replaces the huge plastic setup with a stainless steel pipe that directly connects to the side air scoop. More efficient and gives you an additional 8 HP.

A gain of 8 hp for a air filter seems rather a lot to me, I don't belive all that is written on the packet.
I have the turbo and it just seems to run freer........

I changed to K&Nd saw a change. I guess every little change adds up. Try the twin exhaust from BTL and you will enjoy the sounds.
Check the link.

Hi Kahn I agree with you that there are lots of bits that you can add on to the Smart, if you look at my photos you will see the bits that i have changed on mine but once you start on exhausts, body kits, tires and wheels, Aerodynamic upgrades (Brabus) you may as well go out and buy a Brabus in the first place with the 72 kW / 98 CV, 999 cm3 3 cilindri benzina turbo motor. As of yet you don't have that option in the States i am sorry to say.
You missed wheel spacers of your list, i have put spacers 20mm front. 15mm back on mine.

Try fitting a K&N filter (part number 33_2417) to the all new 54Hp Cdi diesel engine.

Trying to get the clearence with the filter housing so as to remove the filter is impossible.

If anyone out there has managed it please tell us all how it is done as i have the new filter but may have to wait until i have the car serviced to get the job done.

I have now had my K&N filter fitted to my new Smart CDi 54 Hp.

It was carried out by the maindealer in Liverpool and Lady and Gents the job is not for the faint hearted because the rear bumber has to be removed to get at the Turbo pipes which conect to the intercooler and the engine management has to be set up properly.

No wonder Mercedes have made the air filter removal such a pain prabably to dissuade the casual DIY owner from messing up the way the car performs.
