Puzzled with fuel efficiency
Hello all. I know this is a very old and comtroversial subject, but I have come to a halt.
About 4 months ago, I have had the car for 8, I noticed a decay in my fuel efficiency.
I did some calculations today and I have lost about 25%! Although the ECU has never stopped showing an average efficiency of 5L/100Km, my half tank distance has fallen from a maximum of 330kms to a maximum of 240kms, a loss of 27%! That is an efficiency fall from 20Km/L (5L/100Kms) to 15Km/L (6.66L/100Kms).
I must mention that the car has always used premium gas from the same gas station. I have switched from automatic to manual a couple of times without modifying my driving habits making no difference.
Any ideas or recommendations would be grately appreciated. Thanks.

As soon i saw yor post i had to sign up to give you my opinion because i had the same problem with my smart 451 2008 model...and i was very frustrated but after 2 weeks the police arrested the my local gas owner for fraud...well my point is that you have to change the gas station that your using in a regular basis and iam 90% that is not your car but the gas that you are using! ;)
