Welcome back Theo!
Would you mind sharing the process of what is involved and what someone would gain by doing this?
Permalink Reply by Theo Wassenaer on March 6, 2012 at 7:25pm i did the mod of gear box on the 600 and 700 Cc in the past
the clutch actuator is more quick
and also the actuator of the gear selector
the waiting times between gears are also reduced
if you test a car 451 turbo and then a 451 brabus the brabus is quicker
but now i can read and write to smart 451 gearbox ecu's i can also make 61 71 84 98 102 112 gearboxes quicker ;)
should post some pics

I increase overall power and performance with 3 minor modifications. One: I installed a carbon fiber scoop on the side intake to increase the flow of air to the engine , Two: I replaced the stock air filter to a K&N filter for increased air flow, Thirdly: I installed a Hyper Pipe from the intake to the intake manifold for a total upgrade in performance and handling. Great investment for my Smart and love the fuel mileage increase!
Permalink Reply by Reinaldo Emeric on April 16, 2012 at 4:48am I only use Premium Gas at a 92-93, I got average 5 MPG increase out of it according to my scan gage. Unfortunately all gas has a min 10% ethanol mix, i have run Flex Fuel once an my smart, ran like a rocket which i would not advise to try. Not only did I run hot and increased my MPG by 3 additional MPG, it cause my idiot light to turn on notifying me according to the scan gage code pulled, that my engine lean burn at idle was too rich. I got the light to turn off by itself by running 2 tanks premium back to 92/93 of which the Flex Fuel rated at 97. Might as well call Flex Fuel Rocket Fuel! :) I don't advise running Flex Fuel in a Smart. Thanks for the comment.
Permalink Reply by Theo Wassenaer on April 16, 2012 at 6:13am To use ethanol the ecu need to been remap for cold start and bigger ammount of injection and the timing .... otherwise yes you should get misfiring and lambda is not the same for ethanol as for gas
