Hi guys,
I'm trying to get things set up at Denny's so that we can get an area all to ourselves every month. They seem very open to the idea and may have some special things available to us. Hey Eddie, can you check some of the other forums ie. www.smartcarmania.com and www.451s.com...it looks like we have some duplication of club names/activities on the net, and I'd hate for anyone to get left out! If we can get an idea how many people will show up, it would help greatly with negotiations! Oh, I'm also working on some door prizes for meetings...just to sweeten the pot!

When's the next rally or get together. I've had my Cabriolet for over a month and have checked back several times on the site hoping to meet other "enthusmartees," participate in a great cause (rally), or just have some Hill Country fun. Let a gal know what's going on "hook me up!"

Braille Rallye Plea

We still need 5 smart car drivers for the November 15th Braille Rallye at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Austin. A Braille Rallye is an auto sport event where the driver is paired with a Braille reading navigator. Trophies, ribbons and bragging rights will be awarded. Please join us so we can make this an exclusively smart car event! Please contact Rmichael if interested at rmclink@gmail.com or 512-619-1547.

CenTex smart Club smart-B-Que and Ice Cream Social:

Come on out and show your smart pride! We'll park near the tables* so we can show off our cars to each other. (I know I can hardly wait to show off my radio bezel!) There will also be plenty of sitting, chatting, eating, and prizes. So come on out and enjoy the company of other smart folk & good food. (Fishing, with a license, and swimming are also permitted, if desired.)

Saturday September 20, 2008 at Walter E. Long Metropolitan Park (formerly Decker Lake) 11am to 3pm (?). Beverages & fixins-to-grill provided by you (bring a side dish to pass too if you can!) Then, for dessert, LOTS of Ice Cream flavors (& bowls and spoons & napkins) will be supplied by Dreyer's (and our own Alana). We need a volunteer to be our Master smart-B-Que Chef (please contact Rmichael to volunteer).

RSVP through the centexsmartclub.com website or to the evite.

Come on, let's do lunch!

*Parking location: When you enter the park, take your first right, at your immediate left you will see a parking spot in front of picnic tables. You will probably see a large blue table tent there as well but the easiest thing to do would be to just take a right and look for the cutest cars in the park!

Walter E. Long Metropolitan Park, 6614 Blue Bluff Rd, Austin, Texas 78724. There is an $8 park admission fee per car.

Monthly "FourTue" Meet-n-Greet – CTsCC will have a monthly meet-n-greet on the fourth Tuesday of every month at Central Market beginning at 7:00pm starting on August 26th. The time and location could be changed in the future with enough group input. This will be a great way for new owners to connect and a great way for seasoned owners to show off their knowledge about the smart.

Hi smart Friends,
I sent out a Central Texas smart Car Club newsletter to the email list that I have. Please contact me if you want to be added to the email list. The information below is the new and critical information.

Monthly "FourTue" Meet-n-Greet – CTsCC will have a monthly meet-n-greet on the fourth Tuesday of every month at Central Market beginning at 6:30pm. The time and location could be changed in the future with enough group input. This will be a great way for new owners to connect and a great way for seasoned owners to show off their knowledge about the smart.

Fun Run – A Central Texas fun run will be coordinated once a month or as interest permits. Current runs in development include a "Run for the Barbecue" (which do you prefer The County Line or Salt Lick?), a "Race Day" at Driveway Austin, and a "Poker Run". Keep your eyes open for further details and contact rmclink@gmail.com to volunteer.

San Antonio smart Car Club - has invited us to The San Antonio Car Club Cruise on August 16th at 9 am. They will meet at the Rim Shopping Center in front of Best Buy and will be touring 3 local vineyards. Call Mark Weiss @ 210-601-1723 for further details and RSVP to rmclink@gmail.com to caravan to SA.

Howdy Y'all, didn't know we had a Central Texas smart club on 451. I haven't seen much activity on the forums from Central Texas soooo... First Central Texas meet-n-drive planned (July 19th)
Hello my fellow smart friends,
finally a Central Texas Cruise. An Austin meet-n-drive. The first one! Saturday July 19th. We'll meet on the deck of Central Market North (CM) at 10am, chat-n-snack a little, then drive. We have a terrific photo op planned for our short drive (send me a private email and I'll divulge the secret). We'll drive a little around Austin, see and be seen by the natives then end the ride at CM (or nearby school parking lot, still in negotiations) for the last photo op with all the smarties. To entice my fellow Austinites, Pflugervillians, Round Rockians, Georgetownians, and those in other outlying areas, I have asked RR smart Center to donate a piece of smart merchandise for a drawing giveaway (all participating smart driver's names in a hat and one drawn for the prize). Please RSVP to this thread, or Rmichael1 on this site, or to rmclink@gmail.com. If you don't have your smartie yet, I suggest you RSVP, come on down and meet everyone and maybe hitch a ride with a smart owner for the drive.

I ordered my yellow smartfortwo with RED intterior in March 2007 and picked it up March 5, 2008! A lot of people slow down to take pictures when I'm driving the highway or freeway. When it's parked, I see people looking in the window.

Surfing the US site I notice many others bought bright yellow and many buyers are baby boomers! Are we smart or what!
