Here in Australia, smart is sold by M-B Dealerships. Service is at M-B dealerships - which are widespread. If smart was a separate entity, it could not survive. Australia has a population of around 22m compared to the USA with around 280m... the num…
That measely warranty by smart USA is pathetic. smart Australia is three years, unlimited mileage... we pay a bit more for the new price... maybe we get a better smart... we only get the pulse (the sporty smart); no pure or passion, so price compari…
Mine is over 20k km and the only noise that bothers me is a gremlin in the dash that buzzes at around 2000 rpm... the infamous vibration frequency of turbo smarts. It comes and goes and so far has eluded eviction. Simplest answer for me is not to lu…
I've been driving manual shifts for a long time... shifting my smart is just like shifting a pedal clutch car; with one major difference - the smart will automatically downshift when braking and slowing down. Took a while to learn, but now love thos…
Unfortunately the smart was mis-represented in the US (in my opinion)
The smart is a manual transmission with computer controlled dry plate clutch.
Drive it as a semi-automated car, using the paddles to shift gear and it is brilliant.

A lot of Aussie red tape... the smart factory rear rack was caught up it in. Apparently some seat warmer passed a reg that rear mounted bike racks must not obscure any part of the cars tail lights and brake lamps. If it does, the rack must be fitted…
I know what you mean... I have a couple of Yakima bike rails and cross bars that I used in the US, then brought them back to Australia... and have been looking for a pair of extension bolt rods to screw into the smart tow points... no luck.

Hi Ian!
My dealer finally got a Brabus, so they now have a price list for the special bits. Brace yourself: Front Lower Skirt = $499. USD. Rear Fender Mouldings = $113. per side (!) Yikes! It's good to sell smarts! Hey Detroit, check THIS out!
This is a picture of label on our USA Smarts. It is very different from yours. The manual mentions only 155 and 175 wheels. That is it.
Thanks again,
Dan

That's interesting that smart will deliver anywhere IF you have the part number. I have tried to order a Brabus part, but my dealer can't access that order until they have a VIN to enter into the computer, and since the Brabus has not yet been delivered to my dealer, they can't order the part or see the part or price the part. Since we don't get the Pulse here, those tires will probably be locked out of our U.S. parts list.

Thank you, so much for getting back to me so soon with exact info that I was looking all over.
Two of the local smart centers advised me to use the same psi on all 4 wheel. Crazy but it is true.
Hey listen I feel that I owe you one. If there anything I can do for you here in USA please let me know.
Thank you so much. I could not wait until tomorrow to check the pressure in tires.
Dan

Wow -- RHD!
And, BTW, I am doing exactly what Dan is, and am having trouble getting both sizes by the same manufacturer. Yours are all Continentals, right?
I have a set of 6 spoke pulse wheels on my smart and I love it. The problem is that my smart passion came with 155 in the front and 175 in the back. Not a good ride so I replaced them with pulse 175 in front and 195 in the back. But the problem that I am having is what is the proper preasure for pulse tires? I need your help on that. Please let me know what is recomended tire presure for pulse 6 spoke tires. Thank you, Dan

If the part number made him smile, you'll probably want to give him this Parts Bulletin for touch up paint in a sealed envelope and leave the room immediately:

Ian,
A few months ago I shipped some parts to Canada and was apalled at the red tape and extra fees to ship internationally through UPS. The Postal Service here isn't much better and won't even keep their appointments with me to create a business account. In an effort to help you as much as I can, here is the part number for the Black Tridion Touch-up paint Q0007800 V002 C47L 00. Armed with this I should expect your local smart center to be able to get it in for you. Thank you. Paul.
Ian, take the tow eye bolt that comes with your smart (under the carpeted foot well, passengers side) and show it to a machine shop. they can decipher the pitch of the treads and duplicate it for you. I you are going to put something lightweight back there I'd use a good hard aluminum. If used to design a towing contraption... use steel. they will use a round rod blank in the lathe and in minutes come up with your "bolt"

hi, every one
May I ask any one to walk me through the adjusting the instrument panel: particularly clock.
One hour ahead of what is now showing in my Smart car 5:54 pm
thank you for your help

I really like that cover!! It looks like it will fit the US Brabus better than the California Custom cover I now have. Does it come in black and how much shipped to Florida, USA?
