"Hello Ian long time not hearing from you, very valuable comments, always.
Well I think I may have a false alarm too, first like yours it didn't start one day, it was raining too, it took me several minutes and tries to get it on, finally it…"
"I just had what I hope was a false alarm over the upstream lambda sensor.
Story goes like:
Tuesday it rained a lot. Car was parked at the office in the rain all day. Tuesday afternoon the car started very rich and nearly coughed it's…"

Hello Guys. Have A question for the site, I was cleaning the dust of the engine, for same reason it gets dusty, I suspect it gets a lot of dust from the bottom of the transmission intake and I started the engine and notice that the fan for the turbo intercooler didn’t turn. Is it controlled in a similar way to the fan for the engine cooling radiator ? Is it started only when needed? Or why it doesn’t turn? Can someone know how it works and if it is possible to test it? It is more a curiosity…See More
""finally found that pressing and holding the brake pedal down solved the problem. Weird. The problem went away and stayed away."
I've noticed this too but I believe it is a safety interlock in the transmission. I suspect that…"
Interesting how the marketing guys play with us, the customers, they know better what we should get, ja ja.
Anyway, my smart has almost all I wished save for one thing, side airbags, it is not even an option, actually our options are…"
Interesting that you obtained a turbo passion in Mexico. I have the turbo pulse, in Australia. Major differences are wider wheels and tyres on the pulse; paddle shifters came standard; I did not opt for the electric steering.
I really like this site and I think is the best place where I can express my experience with my Smart Fortwo passion 2009 in its first 7 months and 7500 kmts so far.I am extremely pleased with it, it is what I expect of it and a little more, however it does have some idiosyncrasies, not necessary defects that I want to share, although I expect is noting new to the forum. The first and most strange thing is the steering wheel, too heavy on a stop and too vague on the road, how Mercedes could…See More
"Wellcome to Mexico Veronica, I live in Mexico and have a Smart Fortwo and I have driven long distances and it is not unconfortable, actually it is more unsatisfactory drive it on the city, becuase of the bumps and potholes. When you are traveling in…"
"Yep... it is simply becasue the car had it's service interval set by the factory on it's build date, November last year, that the service interval has flagged 12 months. Distance travelled is overruled by the 12 months period.
Perhaps the the date is encoded in the door plate, I will take a look a it when I go home tonight, however when I bougth it and as I ordered with a Mercedes dealer friend I did took a look at the date of manufacting being reported on the…"
"Plenty of folks have chainged their oil the first time way before the scheduled requirements just to get the initial gung out from manufacturing. It realy can't hurt to get it done, But its not going to realy hurt anything to wait either."
"The service interval is set to be 15,000km OR 12 months from the date the service guys set the start interval.
In my case, the car took 3 months to be delivered from France to Australia. The service interval was set for the delivery day, so I had a…"
