"23.5 hmmmmm, even with my a/c on I get millage in the 30's and I live in hot Miami. I would definitely take my car back to the dealer. I actually bought mine at the Clearwater smart dealership. I can't imagine them not being helpful and…"
"That measely warranty by smart USA is pathetic. smart Australia is three years, unlimited mileage... we pay a bit more for the new price... maybe we get a better smart... we only get the pulse (the sporty smart); no pure or passion, so price…"
"Well I have 22k miles on mine in less than a year so I need to get done what needs to be done before my warranty goes. Dunno if I will be able to purchase the extended warranty, I have to consult with the Mrs on that lol"
"Mine is over 20k km and the only noise that bothers me is a gremlin in the dash that buzzes at around 2000 rpm... the infamous vibration frequency of turbo smarts. It comes and goes and so far has eluded eviction. Simplest answer for me is not to…"
"i've had my smart for over 2 years, 18K+ miles, i don't get any noises, when it's cold, it hunts back and forth below 20mph which is annoying, after a few minutes, it shifts normal. this spring i'll be putting in a performance…"
"As I was told repeatably by those moronic tech guys working for Benz+smart that "a brand new $18000 CAN plus Smart car makes all kind of noise under any normal circumstances. Unless it starts falling apart there ain't a thing you have to…"
I haven't given it much thought BUT I am now curious if anyone else hashad this as well or if I am the only one. My car, an 09 Passion for twomakes a quick short whistle when slowing down to a complete stop or analmost complete stop like a turn. It makes the whistle noise when whatfeels like to me the clutch it engaged (thrown out). Like when you areslowing down in a manual 4 speed transmission car and and just beforeyou stop you throw out the clutch and take it out of gear. When mysmart does…See More
i used something similar on my old metro, my smart warranty is up tomorrow (i got my smart 1/21/08) so i may try something soon, i'm getting my 3rd oil change in a week or two. smart doesn't recommend additives, but they didn't decide on mobil 1 0W-40 until after the first smarts arrived (it wasn't in the first owners manual)
I hear ya, I just hit 20k miles on mine and just called them to get a quote on extending my warranty. But if they close down what good is a warranty if there is no place to take the car. Weston is the next closest one, but even living out in west Kendal not too far from Krome ave it's still a pretty good haul to get there. And if they close, we will all be screwed here in S Fla. I agree with some of the other comments in the forum, Smart needs to advertise and get the word out and let ppl know they exist.
I bought mine in Coral Gables, drive by all the time, and had the same feeling you did....that the days might be numbered. With dealers closing in PA and CA, Smart needs to counter any thought that they might be contracting.
